Promoting Engagement and Assessment through Interactive Reports

2020 PEFA Report on Global Financial Management

PEFA, a branch of the World Bank, provides a framework for developing nations to assess their economic health and identify areas for improvement. Having previously worked on PEFA’s website in 2018, Schema subsequently created PEFA’s first interactive report: The 2020 Global Report on Public Financial Management. Users can browse content, interact with data visualizations, and share materials online; PEFA has the ability to manage and edit the content. Schema created unique chart types and developed a number of other interactive chart templates for use throughout this and subsequent reports.

Creating an Interactive Report

When PEFA reached out to Schema in 2020, they outlined five specific goals:

-Enhance efficiency and agility in publishing reports

-Enrich and optimize these reports for increased audience engagement

-Provide shareable content

-Automate the process of exporting PDF reports

-Create a design that could be leveraged for future reports

Schema’s design strategy and data visualization skills complemented PEFA’s proficiency in data analysis. The outcome is an engaging, brand-specific interactive report that puts the editorial power in PEFA’s hands, and the educational power in the hands of the public.
